WHEN COMMUNITY TAKES THE COURSE: MAVCC RALLIES BEHIND THE MISSION TO END VETERAN HOMELESSNESS
On Monday, September 28th, BridgeMill Athletic Club became more than a golf course.
It became a gathering place for people willing to use their time, relationships, businesses, and resources to stand behind something much larger than a scorecard.
The Metro-Atlanta Veterans' Chamber of Commerce brought its second annual golf tournament back to BridgeMill with Mighty Hero Homes at the center of the mission.
Throughout the morning, golfers arrived. Foursomes took their places. Sponsors showed their support. Conversations started. Friendships were strengthened.
And among the golf carts, fairways, putting greens, and friendly competition was a much more serious reminder:
Veterans in our country still need permanent places to call home.
THE MOMENTS THAT MATTER
The 2026 MAVCC Golf Tournament brought together a community of supporters around the mission of Mighty Hero Homes.
Before the event, organizers and Mighty Hero Homes leadership challenged the community with an ambitious fundraising vision: a $100,000 goal capable of sponsoring a Mighty Hero Home for a Veteran resident at the planned Milledgeville Base community.
That made every registration, sponsorship, introduction, and conversation about something larger than golf.
We saw that reflected throughout the day.
We saw teams standing together on the course.
We saw supporters gathering beneath the Mighty Hero Homes tent.
We saw businesses putting their names behind the mission.
We saw people who may have arrived to play golf leave understanding more about what it will take to solve veteran homelessness.
And those moments matter.
THE WORK CANNOT HAPPEN IN ISOLATION
Homelessness can isolate people.
Community does the opposite.
Mighty Hero Homes exists to eradicate veteran homelessness by creating affordable, permanent housing while connecting Veterans with the environment, resources, and wraparound support necessary to rebuild stability, purpose, and belonging.
That work cannot happen in isolation either.
It requires communities willing to care.
It requires businesses willing to participate.
It requires sponsors willing to invest.
It requires individuals willing to tell the story.
And sometimes it even requires a golf tournament.
THE POWER OF PARTNERSHIPS
Partnership is one of the most powerful forces available to a mission-driven organization.
One organization cannot personally know everyone who needs to hear the Mighty Hero Homes story.
But MAVCC reaches people Mighty Hero Homes may not reach on its own.
Its members know businesses.
Those businesses know employees.
Those employees know families.
Those families know Veterans.
And suddenly one partnership opens hundreds of doors for awareness, advocacy, and action.
That is why community engagement is not separate from the mission.
Community engagement helps make the mission possible.
THE CHALLENGES SURROUNDING VETERAN HOMELESSNESS
One of the persistent challenges surrounding veteran homelessness is awareness.
Too many people simply do not encounter the problem in their everyday lives.
A Veteran experiencing homelessness can remain unseen by the very community that would willingly help if people understood the need and knew where to start.
Events like the MAVCC Golf Tournament place the mission directly in front of people.
Not through guilt.
Not through exploitation.
But through participation.
You can play.
You can sponsor.
You can donate.
You can introduce someone.
You can share a story.
You can become an Ambassador.
Everyone can have a role.
MIGHTY HERO HOMES MISSION CONNECTION
Mighty Hero Homes believes Veterans experiencing homelessness deserve more than temporary answers to a permanent problem.
They deserve an opportunity to regain stability.
They deserve dignity.
They deserve community.
And most importantly, they deserve a home of their own.
Mighty Hero Homes' model is built around affordable, permanent housing and communities designed to connect Veterans with additional services and opportunities that support long-term stability.
The homes are essential.
But the people willing to help make those homes possible are equally important.
That is what we saw at BridgeMill.
AS WE MARCH FORWARD...
The tournament may be over.
The opportunity is not.
The photographs, conversations and stories captured at BridgeMill can continue introducing people to Mighty Hero Homes throughout the fourth quarter.
They can recognize sponsors.
They can celebrate community partners.
They can educate future donors.
They can invite businesses to participate.
They can introduce new Ambassadors.
And they can remind people that somewhere behind every fundraising goal is a Veteran waiting for a permanent address.
BECAUSE THEY DESERVE BETTER.
A foursome can become a fundraiser.
A sponsor can become a long-term partner.
A conversation can create an Ambassador.
A photograph can introduce the mission to someone who has never heard about Mighty Hero Homes.
And one day on a golf course can help move us another step toward the day when veteran homelessness no longer exists in America.
To the Metro-Atlanta Veterans' Chamber of Commerce, BridgeMill Athletic Club, every sponsor, every golfer, every supporter, and everyone who helped make the day possible:
Thank you for stepping onto the course for something bigger than golf.
The tournament has ended.
The mission continues.
Because They Deserve Better.
How can your business, organization, family, or circle of influence help move a Veteran from homelessness toward a permanent place to call home?
