MILLEDGEVILLE CAN HELP BUILD A HOME FOR HEROES

MILLEDGEVILLE, THE MISSION IS HERE.

On June 4th, Milledgeville can do more than just attend a town hall. The community has a chance to join a mission that could change how Georgia addresses Veteran homelessness.

Mighty Hero Homes is coming to Milledgeville because awareness alone is not enough. Progress needs people, partners, donors, sponsors, churches, businesses, civic leaders, and local residents who know Veterans deserve more than short-term fixes. They deserve a real path to stability, dignity, and a home.

Mighty Hero Homes is preparing to host a community-wide town hall on June 4th at the historic Old Capitol Building in Milledgeville. The purpose of the event is to share plans for an 84-home Mighty Hero Homes Base designed to provide safe, supportive housing and community for Veterans and their families.

The town hall invites elected officials, business leaders, civic groups, pastors, educators, local influencers, Veterans, families, donors, sponsors, and community members to learn about the vision and ask questions.

This campaign comes at a key time. Georgia Lt. Governor Burt Jones has publicly supported Mighty Hero Homes’ mission, saying Veterans deserve more than temporary shelter and should have the chance to rebuild their lives with honor. Drew Walston shared this message with supporters, showing a shared commitment to helping Veterans rebuild through permanent housing.

Gratitude alone will not solve Veteran homelessness. It requires housing, partnerships, funding, public leadership, community trust, and people willing to step up when support is needed.

For Veterans and their families, the 84-home Base is more than just housing. It offers a chance for stability, a place for steady support, a way to rebuild community, and a path to restored dignity.

For Milledgeville and Baldwin County, this is a chance to be part of something bigger than a single event. It is an opportunity to help build a model that can show other communities what is possible when people take responsibility for ending Veteran homelessness.

The main message of this town hall is clear: ending Veteran homelessness takes organized community action.

Caring in private is not enough. We need people to show up, leaders to listen, churches to mobilize, businesses to support, donors to give, sponsors to invest, and communities to stand behind those who served our country.

When a Veteran comes home and faces homelessness, instability, or isolation, silence is not the answer. The answer is a community ready to help build a way forward.

Many people want to help Veterans but are unsure where to start. Some think the government will solve the problem. Others believe homelessness is beyond the reach of local action. Some may not realize how close this issue is to their own communities.

That is why this town hall is important.

It gives people a place to hear the vision, learn about the need, ask questions, and find out how they can help. A press release can share the mission, but a town hall lets the community respond.

At Mighty Hero Homes, we believe a home is more than just a building. It should be a place where Veterans feel safe, supported, and connected to a community that values their service.

The Milledgeville Base puts that belief into action. It is a chance to build not just houses, but a foundation for dignity, fellowship, opportunity, and lasting stability.

When we mention 84 homes, we are not just talking about buildings. We mean 84 chances for Veterans and families to find safety, community, and hope. This mission asks us to do more than say, “Thank you for your service.” It asks us to turn gratitude into action.

Now is the time to turn awareness into action.

Whether you are a business owner, pastor, civic leader, educator, donor, sponsor, Veteran, family member, or community supporter, there is a place for you in this mission. The real question is not just if we support Veterans with words, but if we are willing to help build the communities they deserve.

The June 4th town hall is where this conversation starts for Milledgeville. It is where concern can turn into commitment, interest can become involvement, and people can learn how the 84-home vision fits into the larger effort to end Veteran homelessness.

The June 4th town hall is more than just a date on the calendar. It is a test of whether the community is ready to support the Veterans it says it honors. If Georgia wants to lead the fight against Veteran homelessness, projects like the Mighty Hero Homes Base need public belief, private support, and real momentum.

What role should local communities, businesses, churches, and civic leaders play in helping build housing solutions for Veterans?
